Visio File Import
« on: March 12, 2009, 05:14:38 am »
Dear all,

I have a database diagram developed in Visio 2007 which I need to import into EA. I have searched the Sparxsystems web site and can no longer find the MDG Add-In for MS Visio.

Could someone kindly give me the pointers to the location which appears to have changed.

kind regards

Segun

I haven't been able to find it on the sparxsystems.com site but have uploaded it to the Sparx Systems New Zealand site under the following URL

http://www.catch.net.nz/sparxsystems/uploads/File/VisioImporter.exe

I hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else
Regards
Bryce

The free Visio Importer Add-In can be found under the Products page on our website.  See:

http://www.sparxsystems.com/products/index.html#MDGLink

An update is in the works to improve support for both Visio 2007 and import of Data Model diagrams.

Thanks for the updated link Aaron.

Could you please ask about posting a Latest News thread when the new importer arrives? This would be a big help. With these 'minor' products it is not always clear when a version update has occurred.

If at all possible, please see if the version number (both the one on the Web site and the one embedded in the binary file) can be updated as well. [I realize these can be somewhat more cryptic, but it helps if they are different when trying to determine if one has the most recent release.]

Thanks much,
David
No, you can't have it!

Dear all,

Thank you all for your help. I was fortunate to test the pre-release Visio importer. It imported a large Visio data model successfully. I am satisfied with the result.

It would be great if the importer in the final release is able to import  other schema objects including table views and stored procedures.

kind regards
