More Robust Addin Menu Items

I have a couple of questions about contributing menu items to EA:

Is there any way to add menu items to anywhere outside of the "Add-Ins" root menu?

Is there any way to add icons, tooltips, and keyboard shortcuts to the menu items that I contribute?

I've looked through the documentation and the API but did not see anything that addressed these.

Sadly, both answers are No.

At least not yet. EA 7.5 is soon to enter beta testing. Perhaps we'll see a change there. [No, I've not heard anything to suggest we will, nor anything to the contrary. But hope springs eternal.]

If something along these lines does not appear in the EA 7.5 beta then I strongly suggest you make a feature request for each of the things you mention. Use the Feature Request link near the bottom of any forum page.

As to the EA 7.5 beta builds, you probably won't need to do a test to see if these feature are implemented. Just find the release notes. They are published with the beta. Watch the Latest News section of the forum.
