Support retrive history from VC

Right now retrive version from VC is for view only I think it could be good to be used as back up (which is one of the  important reason for using VC).

Specially considering that baselines do not work properly with VC right now.

I do agree that EA needs to support retrieving a user-selected previous version from version control, since that is a legitimate (although hopefully infrequent) use case.

Even more, I also would like to see improved baseline handling.
