Image Manager ... doesn't?
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:20:26 am »
I wanted to add a perfectly good .png image, with a transparent background using the Appearance context menu to an entity.
Frustratingly the image manager seems tp convert it to a bit map, loosing all transparency information.
(The help says it stored it as a PNG, perhaps there is a bug elsewhere, but image manager displays it as file type bitmap).
It says only metafiles (what) and bitmaps are supported.
I have no idea how to convert a png to a metafile, and shouldn't have to.

Can image manager (in v8) be enhanced to support other formats, ie png, gif, jpeg, svg, and support transparency

Here are some other things I'd like to do to manage my images
  • find out where images are used (find in diagrams)
  • allow renaming of images
  • show name of image under preview when opening from diagram
  • provide quick key searching of name
  • add keyword associations with images to facilitate searching (aka Office clip art)

Apart from svg all those formats are supported.  Png and gif images will have their transparency ignored though.

All sounds like good ideas.
