Git version control support?
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:42:28 pm »
Hello, will Sparx add support for using Git for version control? Conceptually it shouldn't be much different from how Subversion has been integrated. Are there any such plans or roadmaps for this?

Thanks,

Bjorn.

Hi Guys,

I know it is an old post. However, we at LieberLieber has released a diff & merge tool for EA models called LemonTree.
It can be integrated as external diff tool to your version control system such as SVN, Git, MKS PTC, etc. So, you just check-in your UML models and have a fine-grained conflict resolution possibility.

You can find more information on:
http://lemontree.lieberlieber.com/en/

Cheers
Konrad

It seems the main problem is the repo-local internal IDs are exposed in the XMI files rather than only having the GUIDs there. Should be a simple fix, unless there's a good reason to include the repo-local IDs in the external (and shared) XMI files?

Thanks,

Bjorn

Where are the local IDs used in the XMI?

In case you have not seen this, the blog content here explains some details about support for Git with EA - near the end is a link to the official reply from Sparx Support about this topic:

That's the first time I've seen a shallow skin over Usenet called a blog.

It's a copy of this very forum in fact.
