Another thing I noticed today while searching for the work process.

It would be good to have an option to omit the stereotype string from the search

I admire your tenacity, skiwi, but (as I said elsewhere) I gave browser searches away as a bad job once I'd discovered Project Search [Ctrl+alt+A].  I don't see the point any more.

You may be right.

I'm pretty sure Geert is the only one at those lofty heights.

There are only about three candidates whose karma sum tends towards negative. Nobody loves the bringer of bad news. That has ever been true. And still is.

Ooops, I can't imagine who.

And Glassboy is right, it must have been the inestimable Geert with the impressive Karma, nice one.

PS doesn't mean I still wouldn't like to see this dialogue improved though.

I don't think I have ever seen Geert be anything but nice to people in his posts, that - in my opinion - is why his helpful karma score is so much higher than everyone else's.  One the other hand he never tries to be amusing; I guess Paolo and I should take note :-)

Well, with regard to Karma, my view is taken from the Polish saying of the week: "Not my circus, not my monkey", which if I understand it correctly, corresponds to the Italian action of flicking our fingers outward from our chins - which Italians understand to be "Cosa me ne frego".

I do,...  sometimes..., but I think humor is best served IRL. On forums or emails it is very easy to get misinterpreted when you are trying to be funny. Emoticons help somewhat, but they are no real substitute for actual body language.

Besides, since this year I'm doing only EA consultancy for a living, so I better not be found with my pants down being mean to people.
Every forum user could be my next client.

Surely humour and meanness are orthogonal dimensions (Go Skiwi!  ;D)

One can try not to be mean, but sometimes one's comments can be misinterpreted.  One often can't help misinterpretation - it may be a factor of the recipient not actually understanding what the words used mean.  (See Helsinki Principle).

Hopefully, my humour isn't misinterpreted as mean as it certainly wasn't intended as such.

Have a good weekend everybody, if it doesn't rain, I'm going to fly my helicopters...  8) 8)
