Information flow conveyed items support
« on: August 12, 2019, 07:23:07 pm »
Hello,

I defined flows between archimate application components to identify the data flows between applications.
On each archimate flow, I have Archimate Data Objects selected as info flows or conveyed items.

Opening the connector properties in Prolaborate, this information is not available.
Could it be supported in the future? And if so, could charts be updated accordingly e.g. in the new 3.2 Landscape chart, it would be useful to display the list of data objects conveyed on a flow between 2 applications.

Note: I found a workaround with the landscape chart using SQL Queries

Conveyed items would be an underlying UML feature, not part of the ArchiMate notation.  It would be lost in an export in an ArchiMate exchange file.

Have you checked?  It would be interesting either way.

If it's not exported, then stop asking - It's Bl**dy annoying having to dismiss the dialog!  If it is, then ????.

I can't be bothered creating a model and going through the motions.  You can check the standard tho' https://publications.opengroup.org/c174

You mean you have a "day job" that involves actually using Sparx EA to try and do real work?  (That's irony, )

Calling it real work might be going too far.

IMHO this is only an issue if you have other tools to exchange your Archimate models. I found the conveyed items really useful to define flows between Application Components by linking Data Objects.

I don't use ArchiMate for this, as it's a bit shit.  I use UML and Information Items which in turn map to class diagrams (conceptual and logical data models).
