PDF as Artifact (Internal) has Size Limit
« on: April 22, 2020, 07:06:13 am »
Hi,
I'm trying to bring into EA Sparx a PDF document, via dragging it onto a diagram as Artifact (Internal). After I drag and drop this PDF file (size = 11.6 MB), I attempt to open it from the diagram but nothing happens, the document will not open.  I did some trial and error and found that 5MB must be the size limit because I can open all documents that are under 5MB with out issue. Anything over 5MB will not open.
I know that when the files are under 5MB, there is a little PDF icon in the upper right corner of the element. But when the size is over 5MB, that icon is just a little piece of paper icon.

Does anyone know if there is a size limit problem? Or what could be causing my larger documents to not open.
If there is a size limit, where would I find it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Send in a formal support request, using the links at bottom of the page.  This is a user forum.  We'll help if we can, but something like this will probably need support to investigate.

When you take an extern document into EA it will basically be zipped and placed in the table t_document.bincontent (right out of my headfixed as of Uffe's comment). That might or might not be a good idea (I don't think EA is some kind of document store, but it depends). Alternatively you could use an external reference via the Filename property (in the docked properties window) or the (totally unrelated) Files property in the floating properties.
