Basic Introduction on how to use EA (14 if possible_
« on: August 24, 2021, 12:29:22 am »
Hi

Sorry for something so basic. Just starting with EA.
I am looking for an intro video or users guide to how to use EA.
Can't find any YouTubes that seem to guide me through how to create a basic model using EA - step by step.
Or the user's manual seems more like a reference manual and doesn't seem to guide me through what to press - again step by step.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to start.

Also, haven't figured out the best way to search for basic info.
as an example. "How to import an XML file."
typed all sorts of variations from "basic intro into how..." etc. But all i see to get back is advanced issues with import. Can't find how to get the search to return basic information.
Any advice?
Finally, is there anyway to make the search only return complete works? Did an SMF search and could not find anything. i.e. if i enter "here", i don't want it to find "there" - only "here".
thanks again.

Have you looked here:
https://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/webinar/webinar-series.html

There are a number of videos/recorded webinars on version 14 there amongst other things

Also Sparx has demos here
https://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/demos/index.html

Although a few of these are quite old.

There is also this:

https://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/user_interface/quick_start.html

For the search for a complete word, it depends on where you are searching. In the website search, there is an Advanced Search tab on the search results page, and if you click on that you can select the 'Phrase Search' radio button. I'm not sure how effective it is.

Within EA, a File or Code Editor search has an option for locating complete words, whilst in a Model Search you can edit the search filter to make it identify 'Equal To' terms - see https://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/model_navigation/adding_filters.html.

I hope these help you.
