Can EA use SysML requiremente Text in place of EAs Notes field?
« on: September 12, 2024, 07:58:22 pm »
For those working in SysML, as  you know, there is a standard field in a requirement called "text" in addition to the "id". If you open a Specification View in EA for a package of requirements however, you will not see the "text" unless you add a column. This means you really can't work in a unified view where you see the name and inline text. So that means that in the context of SysML, the standard EA Notes field here is like notes in addition to the requirement, but not the requirement text itself, as is the case for a standard EA Requirement type.

Is there a way to get EA to show the "text" attribute of a SysML requirement inline with the name in the specification view?

I neither is the "ID" not the "Text" tagged values at all.
As "ID" I use the GUID and the "Text" I use the Note.
Not SysML compliant but much more handy.
As long as you do not wnat to switch to an other tool it does not matter, and if so a simple script could fix that.

I share Peter's point of view; SysML requirements in EA have been defined to be compliant with SysML through specific id and text tagged values.
But I would also recommend to use EA standard requirements with the following built-in fields: name, alias for the ID (so you can show it on a diagram if needed above the name), and notes.
