Can't add new task to 'Personal Information'
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:31:40 am »
I can't create a task in the 'Personal Information' tab.  I fill in the form, press 'apply' and close the window.  Alternatively, I press 'OK'.  Neither actually creates a task.

Is there any way to get this feature to work?

Thanks for your help.

The Personal Information window as its name suggests filters the view for items relevant to you.

I'm going to guess you're adding to the Project Tasks list and not the allocated work. If that's the case, ensure that your author name (Tools | Options) matches either the owner or assigned to.

Thanks for your reply.

Both the 'owner' and 'assigned to' pull-down boxes are empty, even though my name is filled in under 'tools>options'.

I'm not sure if I understand what is happening in your project, but try defining your user ID as a Project Author and/or Resource under Settings > Project Types > People.

This works fine: thanks very much.

It might be worth mentioning in the 'help' that the task isn't saved if there is no 'owner', and that the project types>people choice isn't saved unless an arbitrary 'role' is selected.  Perhaps the 'OK' button could be greyed out and an error message added.  Unfortunately none of this is either obvious or documented.

Thanks again for your help.
