I have installed Lindows 1.2.49, side by side with Windows 98, on a 460 MHz Celeron, 64 Meg of RAM, 5 Gig hdrive desktop. I am a Lindows "insider", which means that I am a registered user willing to test the current prerelease version, and that I am conscious that the OS' status is still Beta. Lindows is based on Debian Linux, and includes Wine (Windows emulation).
I was very impressed by the fact that EA runs there up to the point of displaying diagrams (with some glitches), and permitting me to see some of the metadata in the properties workspace. The fun stops there, however, because if I try to double click on any object, EA freezes.
I don't know whether this is because I don't have yet the 128 Meg specified for running Lindows (because I'm evaluating it on a "spare" machine), or Wine gets to point where it is lacking a dll, or something.
Next week, hopefully, I am going to install Lindows on a much more robust machine. I'll keep you posted on this, if you are interested.
