Importing from other tools
« on: January 30, 2004, 02:11:47 pm »
My shop has been using Poseidon for a few months but are rather unhappy with it. However, everyone is much more pleased with the amount of transparency we are getting from design reviews by actively using UML so we're going to be staying on the UML bandwagon now. The key is finding the right tool.

Right now we are evaluating EA and are extremely pleased and impressed so far. However, we do have a few months worth of existing diagrams that we'd like to import into EA if at all possible. Simply trying an XMI import did not work for us as there are apparently discrepancies between what Poseidon generates and what EA expects.

So my question to anyone is whether there is any information that would assist us in this process of migrating existing design documents to EA? We're willing to write a stylesheet and repurpose the XML if needed but we'd need some information on where to begin with EA's expectations.

Thanks in advance.

When exporting EA allows you to choose XMI ver 1.0 or 1.1 (the default) and also the Rose/Unisys format.  Perhaps Poseidon has similar options that would fix your problems?

Just a thought!
