EA Linux and Crossover Office (install problems)
« on: April 30, 2004, 03:57:24 am »
Hi

I"m a current EA windows user at work and I have absolutely fallen IN LOVE with this software.

That being said, I was very happy to see a Linux version released as now I intend to buy it for home use.

Problem is I can't seem to install.

FIrst off, Internet Explorer has been installed successfully via the Crossover Office app so I have to 'assume' that that component is working properly.

I installed the pre-requisites for EA (DCOM and IE) but I cant find the MDAC Components option to install those.

trying not to be held back by something that may have been installed when I get the DCOM and IT, I then tried to just go ahead with the EA install but no matter what "OS" I try to emulate when I do my installation all that happens is the little Crossover Gears just scroll back and forth on the screen. It's as if it's installing but the app just seems to stop responding on me. (I.E. I have to issue a kill command to stop everything)

Any tips?

Hmmm..

The lack of response is disheartening.. not even a "we're looking into it" from Sparx support guys themselves.

Hi!

We are considering using Enterprise Architect, and the only reason we are hesitating is the requirement of using CrossOver. Is that a reasonable consideration, apart from the speed issue you mentioned? I mean is it reliable?
