Import Rational Rose Models?
« on: December 11, 2004, 04:43:52 pm »
EA Help (vers 4.10.734) tells me this may be possible using XMI files, but RR provides no info on "XMI." When I export a Rational model or element, it creates a file with extension .ptl, which it calls a "petal" file.  Is there any way to import these files into EA?  I'm only interested in very basic diagrams, like class diagrams.
Using RR Enterprise 2003.06.13.402 at work; would love to be able to at least view models when working at home, can't afford, nor would pay my own good money for, my own copy of Rational.

Hi,

the XMI import/export functionality is not included in Rose by default. You will need to install an XMI add-in for Rose, you can download it from the Rational website (do a search for Unisys and XMI). That will add the menu items for XMI import and export.

Hope this helps!

Don't despair - searching for this add-in is some kind of pain in the a..
