How to Add Initial State in Activity Diag?

Simple question.  How do I add an initial state or fianal state in an activity diagram?

Select your activity diagram, look at the toolbox, the activity section should be unfolded. In this section you'll find the Initial and Final elements. Note that when modelling more abstract processes (e.g. analysis, BPM etc...), its better to use Send and Receive.

Thanks. Initial/Final were not displayed.  I didn't realize that having the toolbox set to Business Analyst reduced the available elements.

I too stumble over this all the time.

If you create your project throught the wizard interface (rather than some kind of copy operation) the Business Analyst setting is inherited from the EABase.EAP model in your EA installation directory. This setting proves to be very difficult to change.

If you want a different default, you can open that model, change the setting to something you like better, perhaps modifying the toolbox options as well, and then save the file. Next time you create a new project with the wizard it will inherit the new setting.
