Changing Diagram Notes
« on: May 31, 2006, 08:32:21 am »
I looked through help and found out that the contents of the Diagram Note cannot be changed, but, is there a way to display: Diagram name, Author, Created and Updated automatically on the diagram without having to create/maintain a standard note?

You can checkmark "Show Details..." in the diagram properties (2nd col, 3rd row). Somehow you can set this as default, but I forgot how :(

Hi Paul,

The documentation is trying to tell you that the fields in the diagram notes cannot be changed. The contents will change to reflect the correct information.

For example, if you change the diagram name, author, or version via the diagam's properties dialog (F5) you will notice the change reflected on the notes. If you modify the diagram the update time will change. You can test this by moving an element around and then saving the diagram; the updated time will change when it is saved.

The created time will not change - it is fixed when you create the diagram (not when you add the note).

Thomas is correct. Setting the Show Details on Diagram option will put some notes on the diagram. These are not the same as the Diagram Notes button on the toolbar. Why this is true is beyond me. I avoid this particular 'feature' in favour of the diagram notes button myself.

If you want notes turned on by default, in the Tools / Options / Diagram dialog, check the Show Diagram Notes near the top right (fourth in the column in build 790).

David
