Activity nesting
« on: August 16, 2006, 06:13:35 am »
Hi,

I can nest activities within a parent activity either in the project tree view or in the activity diagram editor by dragging and dropping but the two operations do net seem to be related. A nesting in a diagram does not imply that the activites are nested in the project tree view and vice versa. Exception, when I create a new subactivity through the diagram editor the subactivity is positioned in the tree view as a subactivity as well but nothing stops me from subsequently destroying that correspondence.
Q1:Should I expect this?
Q2: I can imagine cases where I would rather draw subactivites on the same level as their parent instead of as an embedded element.   In that case I would like to see some connector to visualize the nesting. Is this at all possible?

TIA, Jan ???

Jan,

I have had some 'interesting' times with nesting activities. Up until build 792 I usually came to grief pretty quickly. Particularly so when I tried to do this on a single diagram.

Version 6.5 is supposed to have new features for nesting elements in a single diagram. As of Beta 1 (build 795) I have not had time to try this out. You might want to take it for a spin. Let us know what happens.

No, you can't have it!
