Locking and CVS

I am looking for a meaningful way to have a project saved into CVS, while having the ability to lock at class level.

As I understand it, the EA-CVS integration will only ensure locking at the package level - not single classes or diagrams.

The class level locking obtained when enabling security presumably won't change this, as one still has to check out a package in order to use it - which makes locking classes unneccesary.

Or have I got it all wrong?
