Importing an ODBC schema from MS Access
« on: January 08, 2007, 07:19:19 pm »
Hi, I'm in the process of evaluating EA and attempting to import a schema from a MS Access 2000 database but running into 'Unrecognised database format' issue. I was previously successful in importing the schema from (choke! ;D)an Access 2.0 database.  Perhaps I don't have an appropriate MS Access ODBC driver. Any help?

Shock Horror...

Try entering "Unrecognised database format" (without the quotes into the forum search engine) and you might get a surprise.

If you're really lucky, you might actually find the solution to your question...

Pardon the sardonicism, but it does help to try a search first...

That's why you're a five-star and I'm a Newbie! Thanks Man. I'll be sure to carry out a search next time.  ;D

Maybe Sparx should glue a "RTFF" reminder notice to their forum signup page ;-)

Yeah! That might definitely help since many newbies are definitely not aware of that. All the Red Triangle and Sort Alphabetic posts  :-X

Still, Casper did think to post the question, and we were able to get him an answer.

In my mind that looks awfully close to success. After all, we all have to start somewhere.

To Post is human, to Search, divine.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the understanding.

For the benfit of those following this thread and looking for the same answer, ensure that you:
1) Go to Tools > Options;
2) When the Options dialogue box / window appears, select the 'Use JET 4.0 - restart required' checkbox;
3) Click on the Close button;
4) Exit Enterprise Architecture;
5) Run Enterprise Architecture;
6) Try importing the schema again.

Good luck!
