Linked documents in rtf generation...
« on: May 23, 2007, 09:00:33 am »
When generating html for use cases that reference linked documents, the results are as expected - that is, I see the linked document when clicking on the use case element. However, when I generate rtf using the use case template, the linked documents are not included in the Elements sections of the generated doc. Anyone know how to modify the use case template or generation options to get the linked documents included as part of the rtf output?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

I believe this has been reported as a bug in past. [Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.]

It might be worth checking wheter this problem was resolved in build 810.

David

[EDIT: Oops, I stand corrected. Thanks Simon.]

You can't edit the Use Case Template as such, but you can edit a copy.

Generate a package.
Use '<new template>'
Copy '(use case template)'.
Check the 'Model Document' section.  (Down near the bottom)
Save and close your template, and generate.

Thanks - worked like a charm. I installed 810 prior to seeing the latest posts and while I've now moved back to 806, I liked what I saw in the Beta. (although that version crashed on me when I went to check 'Model Document' in my new use case template.  ;)

Yes although I didn't mention it, the same thing happened to me in 810.  And it has already been fixed for the next beta.

Thanks for the warning guys. I've had great results for the last two days with 7.0 beta 1, but would have tried that soon. I should be able to avoid that feature for now, and I have a parallel installation of 806 running (thanks Sparx, for the hint).

David

PS: Simon, any inkling of the delta time for beta 2? Nothing specific, but will it likely be days-weeks or another month?

David, that particular issue apparently only effects templates using a multi-byte character set, something determined by the fonts actually used.  Inserting sections into other templates is actually very much improved in the Beta.

As for the release time of the next beta.  I've learned over the years that my guesses are wrong more often than not, so I don't like giving them.  Having said that, it's no earlier than the beginning of next week and I wouldn't expect it to be later than two weeks from then.
