OpenEdge as Repository
« on: October 17, 2007, 04:18:08 pm »
Has anyone else set up a Progress OpenEdge database as a repository?  I'm having trouble with the sequences in the copy of a project into an OE repository, something to do with sequences, and Sparx support seems to think that it should work, but my contact at PSC is also having issues.  I am wondering if it is a version issue.  So,

* have you tried?
* did you succeed?
* if you succeeded, were there special actions not in the doc?
* what version did you succeed on.

I am trying with EA 7.0.817 and OE10.1B.

  • OpenEdge Version must be 10.0B3 or at least 10.1B01

10.1B01 is exactly where I am.

OK, I tried the whole process over again carefully with a smaller project and have successfully created and connected to an OpenEdge repository.  The process is documented here http://www.oehive.org/node/952 for anyone else who wants to give it a try.

I have no insight on why it failed the prior time as I believe I used all the same steps.  I did have several points once I got to the part about setting this up in EA itself where I got a network error and it crashed (the database is on a Linux server) and once I got an ODBC error, but simply closing EA and trying again got me through the process in the end.

It asks for the password a lot!
