Importing ODBC Schema
« on: January 11, 2008, 07:31:49 pm »
Howdy

I've been having problems importing an ODBC schema from MS SQL 2000 and 2005.

Establising the connection works OK.  I can import the stored procedures etc just not the tables.

I'm using V7 but the same occurred on previous versions.

I use the SQL Server ODBS driver.  ODBC driver is 2000.85.1117.00.

It used to work.  Something has changed but I cannot understand what.  I've tried this on various PCs - its just the same - importing everything works, just not the tables.

Any thoughts?

Oops  :)  I have found the problem - I was entering the Schema/Owner - I should have left it blank.

Mark,

Thanks for posting back. This problem has shown up a few times, and not just with SQL Server. It seems that by the time it gets solved so many things have been tweaked that it is difficult to isolate the real problem.

It might be worthwhile to take a quick look at the documentation to see if there is any cautionary note about this - I'll ask you to do that since you know exactly what to look for. If you don't find any warning about this, I suggest you submit a feature request to Sparx. Perhaps they can update the documentation before version 7.1 goes to production.

You'll reach the feature request form by clicking the Feature Request link below the Support link at the bottom of any forum page.

David - I could not find a specific reference to this so have posted a note to include in the docs.

Thanks

Mark

OK - the field is there for Oracle users to filter the import to a specific Owner. Otherwise, you get everything Oracle can throw at you. It doesn't apply to other DBMSs.

I have added a note to explain this point. Sorry for the confusion.
Best Regards, Roy
