Information Item
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:50:56 am »

I am a relatively new user with Enterprise Architect seeking assistance with mapping information items between components.  I am attempting to construct a top-down view of the business processes, applications and information elements within our enterprise.  My requirements for this are as follows.

#1 - I wish to be able to trace an information item to a particular system component - be it an application/object or data store.
#2 - and, I wish to be able reference the information item as part of an information flow to indicate how information is moving between elements.

I have been able to accomplish requirement #2 :D using Information Flows.  I was hoping that I could leverage the Information Flow relationship to automatically associate the components to the Information Flow.  I haven't figured out how to do this as of yet.

Any insights into how to best accomplish the above or alternative approaches to mapping entities with components would be welcome.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm a new user looking for this too. I can use the relationship matrix looking for Information Flow links to discover what classes are linked. This part works great.

Now, how would one get an overview of that information items are flowing between given classes.  A doc template report to get this would be ok too, but it's not clear how to access the information items conveyed from the doc template capability.
