Generating Use case documents with more features
« on: November 16, 2009, 11:06:46 pm »
Hi,

I had a query if it is possible to generate use case documents that would include activity diagrams and User interfaces. The basic use case template only allows the use case diagrams and scenarios to be documented, I wanted to know if there is a possibility where we can modify the template to include even the activity diagrams and user interfaces, so that when a use case document is generated we can have the use case diagrams, activity diagrams and user interfaces in the same use case document.

Regards,
Shilpa :)

Yes, in EA you can define your own templates for document generation.

Hi,

I wanted to know the exact procedure or steps of how to create my own use case template in Enterprise Architect so that I can include use case diagrams, activity diagrams, requirements and user interfaces in the same document.

Search the EA help for 'rtf style template editor', which provides information on creating or modifying custom templates.

There is also a Sparx White Paper that discusses creating custom templates. http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/downloads/whitepapers/Working_with_the_RTF_generator.pdf

Having said the above it's generally confusing to figure out and requires quite a bit of experimentation so hang in there.
