User-based default model
« on: February 03, 2010, 09:53:20 pm »
Hi All,

We now have a reasonably large EA model running on Oracle with security/users enabled.

What would be very nice is if a user can have their own default model and not pick up the one set globally from the Diagram menu.  I've tried to do this and not been successful.

Is it possible to do?  If not can I request this as a feature?

Thanks

Phil

Phil,

Could you please elaborate?
I don't understand what you are asking.

I think I understand. You want each user to be able to define which diagram or diagrams they want to be opened on opening the model? Easily done: Go to File>Save Project As and you can create your own personal shortcut to your Oracle model which will open whichever diagrams you ask it to.

I am a bit puzzled by the question, because it looks as if you are using the Diagram | Make Model Default menu option. The menu option just above that one is Make User Default, which also does exactly what you want (if I understand the question correctly).

The Make User Default option opens one user-preferred diagram automatically when that user accesses the model, whilst Neil's suggestion opens several diagrams and views of the model.
Best Regards, Roy

Grrr, I think I had a Fail Day yesterday.    :-[  Yes, it's the menu item you've specified.
