stereotype for beginners

As a beginner, I would like to draw a component diagram. I want to create a new stereotype and attach an image to it.

I know that you can do this when creating each component and using the alternative image. I want to attach a permanent image to this stereotype but this is only possible if I have a metafile or shape file.

I have imported the xml image library which is available and loaded on a component by component basis but I want to permanently attach an image to the stereotype . I should be able to assign one of the loaded images to it but this option is not available.

How can this be done?
