Versioning repository for EA: SVN or Sharepoint?
« on: July 17, 2014, 06:20:07 am »
I apologize if this is not the right forum.

We are newly starting with EA.  Our organization already uses both Subversion and Sharepoint (as in, by different teams).  My team now has a choice to make: use svn or Sharepoint as our version control repository with EA.

Can somebody please offer me pros/cons for either svn or SP? Simply stating your personal experiences would be great too.

thanks.

As far as I know, EA does not have native support for Sharepoint.
Of course you can manually check in the XMI files to Sharepoint, but it wouldn't really be Version Control, it would be more like backup.

If you need it for documentation and baselining purposes, it might suffice, but it would be much more difficult (but not impossible) to compare changes and see the "diffs" between versions.

Use a search (button top left) for Sharepoint. You will find some statements not supporting it.

Only Subversion can be used as version control, not Sharepoint.
