Hi folks,

I have been filling all my tagged values descriptions in the UML Types, Tagged Value Type window and the Tagged Value Notes so that users can see an explanation about each tag meaning.

The problem is that neither the description nor the Tagged Value notes are visible for users.

This is making users questioning about the use of Tagged Values because it's supposed to be used as a custom metadata on elements.

Product:  Enterprise Architect Unified
Version/build*:   15.2.1558
EA Add-in(s):  none
Operatin System: Windows 10
System Type: 64 bits
Connection Type: Server
DBMS:   SQL Server

Steps to Reproduce
1. Open EA
2. Create a Tagged Value with description in the Tagged Value window.
3. Create an element such as a Class or Component.
4. Add the created tagged value to the new element.
5. Add a Tagged Value Note to the created tag.
6. Hover over the tag name to display its description or note.
7. Description or Note not showing.
IMPORTANT: The Application Tooltip option is set to Popup in my Preferences.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to show the tags description to the users.

Thanks

I can't really follow. You have to show tags with the feature visibility if you want to show them in the element.

However, your major issue is that you should not use tagged values but create a profile with stereotype properties. Those TVs are some heritage and should be deprecated (though Sparx is very reluctant with the practice; if they know it at all).

Hi, qwerty.

Thanks for your reply.

I can use a UML profile but the Tag description would still not be showing to users.

We need that this description be visible while the user is editing tags value of an element. This is very important because the values need to be correctly filled since they are criterion for reports and graphs and we need that users understand what they are filling.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

José

Hard to tell without seeing a describing screen shot (you need to place pictures on a public server and use the link here - welcome to the future). Anyhow, mybe it's just the Notes-part of the TV window that is too small and needs to be dragged out?

In the lower part the TV window is split. The lower part will show the notes. Might be a bit tricky to find the drag position.

Hi José,
Now that I've seen your screenshots, I understand what you're saying.  I agree it would be good if the Definitional Note (as specified in the MDG or in the model itself) could be seen as a Tooltip (in addition to the button) on the tag name.  If this were to be developed, then I would suggest that the tag value or the memo (in the case of a memo tag) should also be displayed as a tooltip.

In recent times, it has become more difficult to see the full value of a tag (and in many cases, it requires using a separate dialog to modify).
