Searches in MDGs
« on: September 19, 2025, 08:53:47 pm »
I want our model to contain searches.
The searches are referenced by various matrices.

This all seems to be catered for; I create an MDG, say I want searches in there, Import into a model profile and we're all good.
However, I've switched PC and now my user searches are gone. Not an issue because my searches are already in the model. However, I now want to add new searches, but keep the old ones. When updating the MDG though it will only allow me to include the new searches; the old ones aren't available so I end up with an MDG that has all the old searches stripped out. Has anyone else hit this issue and do you have a solution?

Cheers!

Your searches are stored in C:\Users\geert\AppData\Roaming\Sparx Systems\EA\Search Data\EA_Search.xml

IIRC you can copy them from the MDG into this file.

Thanks very much!

A clunky solution but a solution nonetheless, much appreciated.

In the Model search, you can also export your user searches to an XML file (all or a selection).
Click on the icon next to the Del (red cross) to open the menu > Export Search
