Showing Specific Methods and Properties
« on: August 02, 2005, 12:48:49 pm »
I would like to have only some properties and methods visible in a diagram. Currently, the only options are to show all or no public, private, etc. methods and properties.

When viewing a model from a high level, you usually only want or need to see a few key methods or properties. You don't need to see all of them because not all of them are important.

Steven,
Check out Set Feature Visibility (Ctrl+Shift+Y).  You 'll see the ability to suppress features based on stereotype.  You can add display only stereotypes for this purpose.

(I prefix mine with ~ (tilde) so they stand out...)

A little bit clumsy, but it does work...

I can't get over how this isn't a feature. Really, it's such a problem. It makes it really difficult to communicate particular aspects of the model.

Since such views are usually "temporary" and in my experience only involve methods, I just create a subclass stereotyped "facade" and use the override implementation function to add the methods of interest.  This saves having to muck around in the actual class.
