Version 9 Build 905 Crashes at startup

Hi there,

i just installed the build from the registred user page and i couldn't get it to work.

It crashes at startup with no error message and it just disappers.

This happened on two laptops now. I didn't have a third one to try it.

OS: WinXP Pro

maybe someone can help me to get this fixed?


Edit: It also crashes with the trial version, however the trial shows the dialog for selecting the version

According to the change log they fixed a crash problem with 904. Looking at the delta time between 904 and 905 it seems likely that the fix has introduced another bug....

I have allready reported the bug.

Unfortunately i cannot load an older beta to test it with them, cause they are not in the registred section anymore.

i also haven't build 904.

it is just the 905.3 build i can use.

I have the exact same problem with 905 as I had with 904, crashes on startup, as described here http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1305631784. V7.5 and 8 still works fine. I was really looking forward to the new Get All Latest functionality too since it caused a lot of headaches in the v8.* version but no way am I rolling v9 out to 50+ users in the current state.

On a third plattform i got the same problem with a win7 installation.

Even more to power up the bug it is also in the lite version.

One very last try for today ( i'm very intrested in EA9  ;) ):

Win7 Ultimate Installation (My home laptop) Trial works but full version gets me to enter license key and crashed afterwards.

Well maybe tomorrow we get more details on it.

I got build 905 working by deleting all files in

C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Sparx Systems\EA

where [Username] is your username. After that 905 ran fine and I didn't even had to reinstall.

Unfortunately i got still my problem with EA9.

Also all hints around the AppData doesn't work for me.

Could someone be so nice and zip and provide me his/hers Spary Systems EA Container? Maybe i could use this files more me.

I still got stucked....

Hello Sethor,

If you have submitted a bug request to sparx support regarding this issue then they would be appreciative of any new information you have to tell them.

Please be specific though, as the EA lite version does not require a key to install, which sounds a little different from your original problem and may provide some good insights to them.

I would also advise ANY EA user to NOT zip up your EA directory and send it to anyone else as it contains your registered user key information.

I tried to delete records in registry, all files in ProgramFiles as well as in user AppData and now it seems ok.

Hard to say what was the problem ...

This is a prime example of why Sparx need phone home information, to monitor software errors in their product.

at least one update:

I don't know why, but on my WINXP Installation it works now... I have no idea, why.

Just done as usual: cleaned the AppData, Started EA9 build 905 Added the license and start...

No change on Registery since last update or new installation.

I really have no idea, why...
