This is v 14, but the location of these settings is quite intuitive. Will let him know; thanks!

Bugs and Issues / Diagram font changed
« on: February 18, 2021, 07:43:16 pm »
Dear EA-fans,
my teammate tells me of an interesting EA behaviour I never experienced myself: one day he loads his EA workspace and voilá - the font in all diagrams has changed; not only the size but he says he suspects the face is different as well. Not only in diagrams he created but literally in any diagram he opens. He also says in his "Diagram Appearance -- Configure Default Fonts" there is no change apparent. Would anynone have an idea how to help him? Many thanks in advance!

Consider this scenario: user creates a set of diagrams structured into several packages where each package relates to a different company department, business-wise. To visually diversify diagrams to be presented to the respective departments, user would like to give the elements different colouring in each package ( if only for the sake of not randomly picking up the wrong diagrams when rushing to a presentation). So what the user does is Save current diagram as a colour scheme [profile] and give it a name, and this function iterates through all elements present on the current diagram and for each type it saves its appearance settings. If the user creaes a brand new diagram and wants it to conform to the visual paradigm of the active package, all they have to do is add and connect elements as necessary and then Apply colour scheme / profile to the current diagram and the function offers the user to select from a set of persisted ones and applies the settings found therein. The schemes / profiles might create a tree structure so that if a diagram in current package does not contain a specific element but the diagram in one of the sub-packages does, the element's appearance settings are taken from a meta-scheme/profile, which resides on or more levels above ( a default scheme / profile).

General Board / Re: Non-displayable tags; where do I go wrong?

Ok; no change for me and I will not pursue this at the moment as I have switched to a more appropriate diagram for my purposes, however thank you for pointing me in this direction.:-)

Yes. Just for test purpose.

To clarify: what you suggest is dropping the stereotype for one instance and checking if the Tags compartment shows up?

Another thought is that the model elements have a shape script which supersedes the normal rendering. Maybe you remove the stereotype from a single instance to verify that.

All the tags and their values are visible in the Tagged Values pane, that makes it even more arcane for me ...

Maybe that when you create an instance the TVs are not copied from the class? Does the TV pane show tags?

General Board / Non-displayable tags; where do I go wrong?
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:44:39 pm »
Hi Sparxers,

I have loaded the Strategic Modeling package and added an instance of the Decision Tree diagram; added some Test and Outcome Activity elements to it and decorated those with a couple of tagged values. Now, even with the Show Compartments::Tags for elements on a diagram and Tags checked in the Feature visibility dialog for each element, I still cannot see the tagged values displayed. This drives me nuts ..what am I missing?

General Board / Re: Differing sets of links within one set of obje

SImon, not sure how this would work but anyway you both have reassured me that it really is best to keep your state machines (and their respective sates) unique and separate. Thanks, guys!

Thanks Geert. Well, the point is = having some twelve states defined, how to go about creating three different sate machines where on each the states transition differently?

General Board / Differing sets of links within one set of objects
« on: September 10, 2013, 10:40:08 pm »
Hi EA folks,

a colleague of mine asked me how he might have one set of states inside a package together with a couple of state machines (diagrams, linking the same elements differentlz each time). My anser was no way, you only have to have a dedicated set of elements for each diagram. But then I thought that things might have changed and therefore I am asking you; is there a better way these days?

General Board / Diagram + elements properties, how to save?
« on: October 02, 2012, 05:53:00 pm »
Hi EA Masters,

is there a way to 'temlepatize' a diagram regarding its appearance and visibility features? In other words - say I have prepared a set of diagrams and for each I had changed its elemnts' coloring (e,g, an Activity element on Diagram A1 has a different fill-color than an Activity element on diagram A3, ...). I would like to be able to save these settings to schemes, like ColourScheme_A1, ColourScheme_A2, ... Is this possible in some way even now, or is it a nice-to-have feature candidate?

General Board / Gradient fill for paper distorted
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:47:37 pm »
Hi all,

EA 9.0.908 - the gradient fill for diagram background ( the 'paper') does not actually show a gradient, rather it is dissected into a set of bands or stripes. Is there anything I could do about it within EA or is it simply a matter of screen resolution?

General Board / Re: Business Rule Model option missing
« on: October 04, 2011, 09:08:48 pm »
Yep, you are right, not available in Corporate Edition. Is there any way to obtain the Business Rule Model as a standalone package? It seems strange to me that a corporate edition should be deprived of such an important feature ... :'(

General Board / Business Rule Model option missing
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:09:05 pm »
Hello All,

using EA 8.0.864, when I try Add / Add a New Model using wizard, the Business Rule model option is missing. What might be the problem? ( not the version I suppose ...)

General Board / Auto Name Counters & Project Constants
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:41:03 pm »
Hello All,

would it be to possible to leverage a mechanism similar to that of Project Constants to load values into Auto Name Counters? Background: let's say I use ten ANC's in each project and each ANC starts with the project code; the project code is different with each project and therefore with each new EAP, I have to loop through all ANC's and manually update the project code values; having a variable to substitute the project code would simplify the update to a single spot...
