General Board / Re: Collaboration <-> Sequence Generator
« on: September 15, 2005, 08:39:37 am »
I imported the c2seq-converter. When I try it to create a sequence diagram from a collaboration diagram, I get an error box:

"An error occurred while attempting to communicate with an Addin: Collaboration To Sequence (SparxCollab2Sequense.SparxCollab2Seq) "EA_MenuClick: Can't find matching ID" Please contact the add-in provider for assistance."

So here I am: help!

Thanks,
Arjen

General Board / Re: communication diagram questions
« on: September 15, 2005, 01:54:24 am »
Thanks, this helps.
BTW, I did try to find it in the manual, that is, in the Help-pages. I did find a good looking communication diagram there, but no description on how to make it look like that... That is, I found: "Always create the association link first - then add messages to the link." It doesn't say to not use the toolbox (what is the toolbox for, if you mustn't use it?)...

General Board / communication diagram questions
« on: September 15, 2005, 01:32:29 am »
I try to draw a simple communication diagram (would include it if I could?!).

A number of things happen that I do not like:

1. The message arrows extend from object center to object center. Thus, if two objects are far apart, I get ugly long arrows. How can I resize them, or, better, tell EA to give all arrows the same, fixed, length?
2. Every next arrow is stacked below the previous one. As in sequence diagrams, in a way. However, the vertical position does not have any meaning in a communication diagram. How can I get all arrows positioned 'against' the association?
3. All arrows are drawn horizontally. Therefore, they almost disappear when two objects are right below each other. Is it possible to 'rotate' the arrow to have the same direction as the link it belongs to?
4. The messages do not automatically get a number. Nor can I find how to give them a number by myself. How is this done?

Any help is appreciated.

General Board / Including a picture in a posting?
« on: September 15, 2005, 01:34:33 am »
For another question, I would really like to include a picture. It appears to me that for this I have to make a website, find a host, upload the site and then post its URL... Isn't there an easier way to include a file?

Thanks,

General Board / Where to find elementary (?) help?
« on: September 14, 2005, 06:50:03 am »
Hi,
Before I start posting too elementary questions, first a meta-question. I have started drawing some very simple diagrams. Very soon, I bounce at drawing issues (activations that are intersected when I move a message down, impossible to draw messages downward in communication diagram, etc.).
My hunch is that there are solutions to the things I want, but I just can't find them. Where to look? Or is it ok to post some examples here?

Thanks

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Show conceptual class diagram
« on: November 13, 2006, 01:08:02 am »
Hi Peter,
Thanks for your response.
Ctrl-Shift-Y does not quite realise what I wanted. E.g. when I don't show attributes and operations, still the lines that make up their compartments are visible. I only want a rectangle with a name.

Furthermore, I know it is possible to  either show or not show attributes. However, for an attribute, I want to hide the "+" or "-" sign indicating its visibility and the ":" that precedes the type.
E.g. instead of "+ age:", I want "age".

Hope these two are possible as well.

Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Show conceptual class diagram

Is it possible to show classes in a class diagram as rectangle-with-name-only? That is, without compartments?

In the same line: is it possible to only show the attribute's name? That is, without the ":" and without the visibility?

Thanks in advance,
Arjen

With self-messages, it is possible to raise the activation level in a sequence diagram. This results in a 'rectangle on the rectangle' on the lifeline.
I would like this same raising with messages between different objects. Say object a, from within an activation, sends a message to b, and b, during its consequent activation, sends a message to a. I would like a's first activation to have a next activation on it.

Is this possible?

(Would have included a picture, but can't get that to work...)

Is it possible to find on which diagrams model elements occur?

Context: I've been building some models with lots of unnamed startactivities. Also, I've deleted a number from diagrams, but not from the model. Now I'd like to cleanse my project view from all unused startactivities. However, I see no possibility to distinguish the 'orphans' from the ones in use.

Again: thanks for any help!

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your reaction.
Maybe you can elaborate a bit? What I found was "Advanced Settings/Set as composite element". Is that what you refer to?
When I tried that, this turned the subactivity into an activity. There seems, however, no way to undo that action? How can I turn the activity back into a subactivity?

I removed the diagram of a Subactivity.
Now, I can add a new diagram to it. But it does not automatically open when I click on the subactivity's icon in the activity diagram that contains it. How can I connect this new diagram to the icon?

Thanks in advance,
Arjen
