Sparx Systems Joins Utilities Communication Architecture International User Group (UCAiug)
Sparx Systems announces Membership of the Utilities Communication Architecture International User Group (UCAiug) and attendance at the forthcoming DistribuTECH event in San Diego.
Creswick, Australia, January 30, 2009 – Sparx Systems is pleased to announce that the company has joined the UCAiug with Corporate Member status.
The UCAIug, as well as its member groups, Common Information Model User Group (CIMug), Open Smart Grid, and IEC61850, comprises 125 members, who are represented by 29 countries. The user group is dedicated to promoting the integration and interoperability of electric, gas and water utility systems, through the use of international, standards-based technology.
The CIM is a standard that has been officially adopted by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard was developed by the electric power industry, and allows application software to exchange information about the configuration and status of an electrical network.
By joining the UCAiug, Sparx Systems will be better able to provide Enterprise Architect product support to the member groups of the UCAiug and make a practical contribution to their shared goals.
“Given the recent decision by the IEC TC 57 to maintain, manage and distribute the Common Information Model in Enterprise Architect, Sparx Systems’ membership of the UCAiug is an exciting and timely development and demonstrates commitment to supporting the aims of the global utilities industry,” said Ken Harkin, Business Development Manager for Sparx Systems.
Sparx Systems will be attending DistribuTECH 2009 in San Diego from February 3-5 2009 and can be found at UCA Booth #447: https://www.sparxsystems.com/press/events.html#distributech0209
