Scenarios View Toolbar

In developing a scenario specification, you can perform a wide range of operations using the icons on the Scenarios View toolbar underneath the 'Type' and 'Scenario' fields on the Scenarios View.

Access

On a diagram or in the Browser window, select an element and:

Ribbon

Start > Application > Edit > Responsibilities > Structured Scenarios

Context Menu

Inspector window > Details | Right-click on 'Scenarios' | New Scenario

Inspector window > Details | Scenarios | right-click on existing scenario | Structured Scenario Editor

Keyboard Shortcuts

Alt+2 > Responsibilities > Structured Scenarios

Other

On the 'Scenarios' tab of the Responsibility window, click on the Edit button against a scenario (see the Scenarios Tab - Responsibility Window Help topic)

On the 'Scenarios' tab of the element 'Properties' dialog, click on the Structure Editor button (see the Scenarios Tab - Properties Dialog Help topic)

Click on this icon to save changes to the scenario specification.

Click on this icon to return to the basic path specification (if another path specification is currently displayed).

(Enabled when the basic path is displayed - you cannot add an alternate path to another alternate path or to an exception path.)

Click on this icon to create a branch from the selected step to an alternate path scenario; select the path from the displayed list. If the appropriate scenario does not yet exist, double-click on the new path line and type the scenario name, then click off the line and back on to it.

Click on the OK button.

  • An entry for this alternate path displays in the 'Entry Points' tab, as step 'a' of the basic path step it branches from; in the 'Join' column, click on the drop-down arrow and select the number of the step at which action flows back to the basic path, or select 'End' if the path terminates separately from the basic path
  • You cannot join the end of the alternate branch to more than one step of the basic path; if you change the join point of the branch, any duplicates of that branch are updated to remain in synchrony with the join point
The Entry Points tab defines the entry points for each alternate scenario path.

(Only enabled when the basic path is displayed - you cannot add an exception path to another exception path or an alternate path.)

Click on this icon to display the 'Manage Uses Context List' dialog, which you use to set the 'Uses' column entries to linked context reference lists.

Click on this icon to move the currently-selected step one place up (including any new step ... line).

Click on this icon to move the currently-selected step one place down (including any new step ... line).

Click on this icon to display a list of diagrams that you can generate from the scenario; click on the type of diagram that you want to generate.

Scenario test

Click on this icon to display a list of Test Suites and Test Cases you can generate, based on this Use Case scenario. Click on the test structure you want to generate.

Generate Test Cases

Click on this icon to delete the selected step from the scenario.
