Are there limitations to the Trial Edition?

The only differences between the trial and the full edition are that access to the Trial Edition will expire after 30 days, and the Trial Edition adds an 'annoying' watermark to printed diagrams and document images.

Each time you run the Trial Edition, you are prompted to select which edition of Enterprise Architect to run. This allows you to see which features are offered in the edition you might be thinking of purchasing.

Can I Register the Trial Edition?

The Trial Edition cannot be registered - only the full edition. Therefore if you decide to purchase Enterprise Architect, you must download the full edition and install it, then register it with your registration key.

You will receive registration information at the time of purchase. This will include a username and password for the registered user area of our web site, a link to download the full version, and your registration key/s.

Register a Full License

Can I transfer projects from the Trial Edition to a registered version?

Any projects created in the Trial Edition of Enterprise Architect will be fully compatible with the licensed full editions of Enterprise Architect. Please ensure that you have your .EAP files in a secure location when you remove your Trial Edition.

These files can then be accessed through the licensed full edition after you have installed it.

What are the differences between the editions?

There are four Editions of Enterprise Architect available - Professional, Corporate, Unified and Ultimate. The Corporate, Unified and Ultimate Editions are also available with floating licenses.

Here is a summary of the intended purposes of each Edition. For a tabular comparison of the features in each Edition of Enterprise Architect see the Compare Editions page of the Sparx Systems web site.

Professional Edition

Aimed at work groups, analysts and developers. The Professional Edition supports shared projects through replication and shared network files. The Professional Edition also has an ActiveX interface for interrogating Enterprise Architect projects and extracting information in XMI format. The Professional Edition also fully supports code import/export, synchronization of model elements with source code, and reverse engineering SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Adaptive Server Anywhere databases. MDG technologies, Mind Mapping, a project discussion forum and RTF report customization are also included.

Corporate Edition

Aimed at larger development teams. The Corporate Edition supports everything in the Professional Edition, as well as the ability to connect to SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Adaptive Server Anywhere DBMS backends as the shared repository, and creating MDG Technologies. It also supports user security, user logins, user groups and user level locking of elements.

Unified Edition

Whether you are a systems and software development professional, business modeler, architect, requirements expert, project manager, involved in the design and construction of quality software and business services, or working on real-time, embedded and systems solutions using UML, SysML, DDS and related technologies, this Edition of Enterprise Architect has the features and built in tools to help you and your team deliver the best solution possible.

Ultimate Edition

For power users and those working across multiple domains, the Ultimate Edition offers the complete Enterprise Architect experience. A complete package, the Ultimate Edition contains all the features and bundled software of the other editions.
