Tips and Tricks
Tip 1: Need more room to document your elements? Try Linked Documents.
In the Corporate edition of Enterprise Architect, you can link an RTF document to any UML element in the model.
- Select an Element
- Right-click and Select “Create Linked Document” (Ctrl+Alt+D)
You now have a complete document to include rich-text, images, tables etc.
Tip 2: The fast way to link and add an existing element to your diagram...
- Select an element on your diagram.
- Drag the new link control (arrow at top right of selected element) to an empty space on the diagram.
- As you select the element type you want to link to, hold Shift.
- From the dialog, select your target element.
The element is now placed on the diagram at the selected position with the selected link type.

Learn process mapping with BPMN through Tieturi
Business Process Modeling Notation is an advanced notation for business process mapping. Training for BPMN using Enterprise Architect is now available.
There have been various ways to map processes, but now there is a standardized process mapping language BPMN. Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) gives more power to process mapping allowing you to define process steps etc. more accurately. It is even possible to generate BPEL code from it. Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect supports BPMN and it is used in this course. This course is available in Finnish as a public course and in English as a customer specific course.
